Behind The Scenes: London Spray Day With Sienna X

Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty - London Spray Day

A few weeks ago, on a wet and windy September day I headed into London to assist Sienna X’s Brand Ambassador, Carly Hobbs at a press event which was being held at Sienna X’s PR Agency, which is just off Oxford Street.

For me, there is just something about London that I love, the hustle and bustle, the sights and the fact that you are never far away from a coffee shop! Anyway I digress, as I got off the tube at Tottenham Court Road, the offices were just a short walk away (luckily the rain had stopped, so at least I wouldn’t arrive, looking like a drowned rat)

After arriving at the offices, I was greeted by Lily, who works for the PR agency. Soon after, Carly arrived and we went went downstairs to the tanning suite. It was beautifully set up full of products and Carly began to run through the schedule for the day.

Appointments started at 2pm and would run through until 7pm. We would be tanning members of the press, magazine editors, beauty bloggers and more.

The day absolutely flew by and before I knew it, it was 7.00pm! I’d had the best day talking all things tanning and helping the press to glow, the Sienna X way! It was time to get packed up and head back to Waterloo for the journey home.

As I walked back to the tube station, I couldn’t help but have a huge smile on my face! This day had been something I’d been wanting to do for so long in more ways than one…

For those of you who know me, you’ll know that one of my fears is the underground (sorry I’m going to rephrase that, WAS one of my fears!) It had always freaked me out, for one thing, the escalators are almost vertical and secondly, I’ve always had a fear of being lost by myself, having no clue how to get back.

When I say it out loud, it sounds so ridiculous. I know hundreds of people do it every day, you may even be one of them, who literally jump on and off the tube and don’t even think about it. But for me, the story was different, However, I faced my fear and did it anyway! Sometimes you’ve just got to pull up your sparkly big girl pants, believe in yourself and do these things, right? Right!

So, in more ways than one, this will be a day that I’ll never forget! A huge thank you to Sienna X, Carly and B The Agency for having me!

Until next time, be brave and embrace every opportunity (even if it makes you want to pee your pants)!

Love,

Tanning Hell vs Tanning Heaven

Recently I was chatting to one of my lovely nail clients who asked about the other treatments I provide. We got on to the subject of spray tanning and began talking about the experience I offer. She went on to share with me a previous experience of spray tanning she’d had and by the end, I have to admit I was totally shocked!

She had come across a salon, not far from where she lived at the time who was offering cheaper spray tans so thought she would book an appointment. After arriving, a lady came through and directed her straight to the tanning tent which was covered in old tanning solution.

My client was telling me that at no point did she have a consultation to discuss the desired shade she was looking for or any questions asked about her medical history etc…No sticky feet (self adhesive pads that are worn during tanning to stop the transfer of tan to the bottom of the feet) were issued to her. The barrier cream was “slapped” on and the tanning began.

Not knowing what to expect, she thought this was the norm. She was in and out of the salon in under 10 minutes. Having paid her money, she left with no aftercare or advice on how to look after her tan. I asked her what the results of the tan were, and to be honest, the look on her face said it all. She replied saying “It was patchy, uneven and put me off ever getting another spray tan”.

I couldn’t help but feel saddened by what I was hearing and I asked her if she would like to try another tan with me? At first, she was a little hesitant (which to be honest, if I’d had the experience she’d had, I think I would be to) After talking her through everything including the preparation information, I’m delighted to say, she agreed.

She is now one of my regular tanning clients and I’m so pleased that I could turn her tanning hell into tanning heaven. Nothing makes my day more than to see my clients wearing their tan with confidence, being the most beautiful versions of themselves.

So what did this story teach me? Well, it’s like my client said after her tan, “It just goes to show, if it’s cheap, it’s not good and if it’s good, it’s not cheap.”

If I charge more than some spray tanning therapists, perhaps that’s because I invest a lot of time and money in my education, to perfect my skill each year. I strive to offer my clients the very best products within the industry.

This is not just my job, it’s my passion and I believe that each and everyone of my clients deserves the highest level of service as well as…

  • They deserve to know how to prepare for their tan, they deserve to know how to look after it and get the very best from it.
  • They deserve an in depth consultation and to know that one shade doesn’t fit all.
  • They deserve to step inside a tanning tent that isn’t caked with solution from the tan before.
  • They deserve not to feel awkward about being semi naked.
  • They deserve not to feel rushed but most of all, they deserve to feel beautiful and confident!

Until next time…

Love,

3 Things You’ll Want To Try This Month

My Wish For You

January can feel like such a long month and often a little flat. The evenings are dark and the hustle and bustle of the festive season is over. However, over the last few years, I have learnt to actually embrace the month of January. It’s a fresh start, a clean slate. 365 days lie ahead to create whatever you dream of! There are three things that I do at the start of each year…

  • The first thing is take some time to reflect on the previous year. I think we are always so keen to look forward to see where we are going or where we want to be, that we can often forget how far we’ve come in a year. A lot can change and good or bad, there’ll always be experiences that I’ve learnt from.
  • I then create my vision board for the year. If you are reading this thinking; “What on earth is a vision board?” I’ll explain. A vision board is a selection of pictures that you collect from magazines, Pinterest or wherever else you want to. The pictures resonate with something you’d like to do or something you’d like to feel. Maybe somewhere you would like to visit or something you would like to buy. One rule for your vision board though is dream big! If you’ve ever read the book “The Secret” you’ll know that Law of Attraction, (LoA) is a really powerful thing. By creating my vision board I have attracted many different experiences into my life. For example, working with Sienna X live at Olympia, being featured in magazines, a new iPad Pro, holidays and lots more. Once my vision board is created, I hang it on my office wall so that I connect with it everyday.

  • The final thing I do is create my dream jar. This contains all my wishes and goals for the year. I write them all down on a piece of paper, fold them up and place them inside the jar. Each day I’ll pick one out and read it out loud. I then close my eyes and visualise that wish or goal coming true.

This all may sound a little bit woo woo, but it works, I promise! So my question to you is, what do you want to do in 2018? Why not create your own vision board or dream jar and see what dreams you can make come true… I would love to know your wishes for 2018, so why not share it with me in the comments section below.

Whatever the year ahead has in store for us, I hope it’s full of all we dream of!
