Are You Getting Enough Time For You?

As women, we are often spinning many plates on a daily basis. We juggle work, family life, running a home, planning time with family and friends, as well as ensuring the children’s social calendar is all running like clock work too!

At the moment, I don’t have to worry about the child aspect, however I completely get the rest of it and so I want to ask you a question today; do you ever take time out for yourself? I’m guessing there will be a the odd few of you that are nodding and saying yes but I would imagine the majority of you reading this are saying no, and perhaps even thinking, “time out for me”, what even is that?

Well firstly, if it makes you feel any better, you are not alone! I am just as guilty of this as perhaps you are and have to confess, I find it extremely difficult to take time out away from my business. My job is my passion, and I can honestly say, I truly love what I do, hence why I often find it hard to take a step back and do something just for me.

Is this a good place to be? One could argue, no it’s not! Don’t get me wrong I count myself so lucky to have the amazing clients I do and a job that makes my heart sing, however I also need to be realistic, excessive pressure and stress over time can lead to poor health, mental burnout and exhaustion.

This is why “me time” is so important and why I’ve decided to ditch the guilt! I need to change and actually use my day off as a day off, rather than using that time to work on my business. I’m going to spend more days at the place pictured above. I think us women give ourselves such a hard time on occasions. “Pampering” ourselves is often viewed as a luxury, but I now know, more than ever it’s not, it’s actually a necessity! We are no good to ourselves or anyone around us if we are mentally exhausted!

It doesn’t need to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money, just simple things often work well and are easier to stick to, like taking a warm bath full of bubbles, lighting your favourite candle or reading a good book, whatever it is that will help you unwind your mind and body after a busy day, you owe it to yourself!

So here’s to claiming back some well deserved “me-time” ladies because as the famous beauty company always says, “Because you’re worth it!”

April Blog: Beautiful Hair No Matter What Your Age…

Gorgeous Hair For Your 30's, 40's and 50's (1)

I often get asked, what are the latest hair trends? What’s hot and what’s not? As a Hairdresser, I love nothing more than attending Salon International in London and seeing the shows from Toni & Guy, Percy & Reed and many more. However, being honest, my passion is creating hair that my clients can actually wear, and feel beautiful in, no matter what their age. So, here is my guide to beautiful hair for your 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and beyond…

30’s

Don’t think that just because you are no longer in your twenties, you can’t have a striking look that reflects your personality, you can have this at any age. For a short look I absolutely love Frankie Bridges’ style. The strong shape combined with the softness through the top looks beautiful and gives this look femininity. Her rich colour also really enhances her skin tone.

40’s

Wearing hair a little softer as we get older is very flattering. Layers which create texture, movement and volume can work really well. By creating softness to frame the face, like Jennifer Aniston, mid length hair can still look absolutely beautiful. A side fringe could also easily be incorporated with this to create even more of a softer look. By opting for pieces of caramel and biscuit tones within the hair, this can also help radiate fairer/cooler skin tones.

50’s

Choppy bob’s are really on trend for 2016, as well as the “Wob” (Wavy Bob) and the “Lob” (Long Bob) with many celebrities wearing them. This style has great versatility, by wearing it smooth and voluminous or curly and textured just as Halle Berry does is really beautiful.

I think it is also really important to remember, it’s not just about the cut, style or colour of hair, it’s also about trying different styling products, to create a different look or maybe try experimenting with some different make-up shades to. A change of blush or even lipstick can make a really big difference. I am always more than happy to help, so feel free to book your free 15 minute consultation with me at any time. We may not have celebrity status or have personal stylists to assist us each day, but we can still Be Beautiful just by embracing ourselves and what we have…Let’s create our own trends?

Until next time, enjoy being the BE-YOU-TIFUL you!

March Blog: Why I Love Spray Tanning (And Know You Will To!)

Sienna1

I have to admit before I became a Spray Tan Therapist, I was never much of a self-tan girl. I would never have dreamed of sitting at home with a bottle of faux tan, pair of gloves and applying it myself. However, a spray tan was completely different and having had a few in the past, I loved how they made me feel; slimmer, more toned and so much more confident… This is where my tanning journey begins…

Three years ago when launching my business, I had a very clear vision. That vision was be able to help busy women look and feel amazing, all at a time and place that suited them. A friend of mine had been using Sienna X and was really impressed by it; therefore I wanted to find out more.

In February 2013, I visited Professional Beauty, London (which is a huge Beauty exhibition that completely fills every square inch of the Excel Centre) within an hour of talking to a lovely lady from Sienna X, my kit had been purchased and my training day was booked! From day one of picking up that spray tan gun, I have loved every minute of it. I loved it so much; I have recently completed my Level 3 Masterclass, the highest level within Sienna X and am now a Master Professional.

During my Masterclass, I not only had the pleasure to meet, but be trained by the master and my tanning guru, James Harknett. James is one of the nicest and most down to earth people I have ever met. His career started within the tanning industry 16 years ago when he joined the iconic brand, St Tropez. Within that time he has become a tanning expert and is now the ambassador for Sienna X as well as being named the “Tom Ford of Tanning” by InStyle magazine. James shares his time between visiting clients at their homes in London and residing at the amazing W Hotel, Leicester Square and has also just launched in the same Hotel in New York!

James is no stranger to famous faces and has tanned many celebrities including; Denise Van Outen, Emma Willis and even Kylie Minougue. That aside, James clearly loves nothing more than meeting the public and giving them the best tan he can… James and I may share different worlds, but one thing is for sure, we have a love for tanning and a real passion for making people feel amazing! You can read more on James’ story here; http://www.jamesharknett.co.uk/home/

Spray Tanning has come such a long way since it first hit the market; but there is still a real misconception that it will leave you “Orange” which is simply not true! Choosing the correct solution for the client’s skin tone and the way in which it’s applied, is of course is key to the end result. But this is why I love working with Sienna X, there products are outstanding, enabling me to really create a bespoke tan for each and every client. Being a Spray Tan Therapist, for me is all about being able to help someone feel the best they can. It’s about making that person feel confident and special. It’s not just because their skin looks nourished and hydrated, or they look slimmer or more toned; (just a few benefits I had to mention!)

Nothing makes me happier, than seeing a client step into my spray tan cubicle; although this usually starts with them apologising for all they dislike about their body, to which my reply is always the same; “we all have things we don’t like, but trust me, I don’t see what you see, and to me it’s a blank canvas where I can create my magic.” When they step out, not only are they beautifully bronzed, they love how they feel to and this is why I love what I do. I am proud to be associated with Sienna X, their solutions and aftercare products are second to none and I count myself extremely lucky to have been trained by the industries best!

You can find out the other benefits to having a spray tan here; http://bebeautifulhairandbeauty.co.uk/tanning-faqs/10-benefits-of-a-spray-tan/)

I really hope this has inspired you to give spray tanning ago, once you do, you’ll never look back.
