Did I Take Life For Granted?

Untitled design-6

I guess the answer to the question is yes! But maybe we all did? Seeing my friends and family as and when I wanted. As I sit and write this post, it’s hard to recollect what normal life feels like and I can’t quite believe we’ve been in lockdown since the 23rd March. I’m sure, like many of you, we wouldn’t have ever believed this could or would happen.

Lockdown has definitely taught me that I love routine and more importantly, I need it. The first few weeks I really struggled. I missed working a lot, seeing my clients and generally feeling useful. I guess I no longer felt I had much of a purpose. One of the many things I love about my job is making people feel good, helping them glow with confidence and I think I felt sad that all of that had temporarily been taken away, with no real idea of when it would be coming back.

One of the things that has really helped me is having a good old hinch around the house. For anyone reading this and has no idea what I’m talking about, be sure to check out Mrs Hinch on Instagram. It has certainly helped calm my mind when anxiety creeps in, plus I love cleaning and organising so its a win win because it’s really helped me feel like I’ve achieved something.

No matter who we are, our mental health is fragile and can affect any one of us at anytime. So getting out in the fresh air, taking a walk has been really good. Its also been lovely to walk locally and discover different places that I didn’t even know were on my doorstep.

Self care is so underrated and was clearly not something I used to do enough of. It’s only now, I can see that! Isn’t it funny how life works sometimes? Relaxing with a glass of bubbles, a beautiful Gatcombe Candle and doing a “at home” Sienna X facial has certainly helped calm my thoughts before bed.

With all the madness of practically the whole world going to sleep, it’s certainly made me notice the little things and be grateful for each and every one of them. Spending time at home in the garden, listening to the morning song of the birds and the beautiful sunshine.  It’s almost like mother nature stepped in and insisted we all stopped, learnt to appreciate the little things and gave us beautiful weather to enjoy it all.

I hope you are okay and that brighter days lay ahead for us all.

Can Sleep Really Help Give You Beautiful Skin?

BBHB

We all know that sleep is a key ingredient for making us feel alert and energised, but can it really help give us beautiful skin too?

As we snooze, our skin gets to work to repair itself and studies suggest that new skin cells grow faster when we are asleep. It’s also the time that our skin produces collagen which helps to plump it up, leading to firmer, smoother skin and fewer wrinkles. Research also suggests that the blood flow to our face is also increased as we sleep, which helps to give our complexion a healthier appearance when we wake.

Have you ever wondered why many skincare companies offer specific nighttime serums, oils and masks? These products are specifically designed to aid our skin during the night. By having a good nighttime routine, this not only helps to relax your busy mind before bed, it also helps you get the most from the products themselves.

So what is it a good night-time routine? I would recommend using a good quality cleanser Toner and Moisturiser. I would always double cleanse and for me personally, I love the The Skincare Collection from Sienna X. The Cleansing Balm helps to remove the negative traces left behind from pollution too. The first cleanse helps to remove make up, dirt and excess oils. I would then use The Cleansing Lotion to hydrate and purify my skin. The Toning Solution can then be spritzed over my face or applied to a cotton pad, followed by The Eye Cream, The Miracle Mask and or The Facial Oil.

Our skin is the largest organ we have and we need to take care of it. Even if you are someone that doesn’t wear a lot of make up day to day, you and your skin can still benefit massively from a healthy skincare routine and a good nights sleep!

Until next time, enjoy your beauty sleep!

How To Self Tan In 3 Easy Steps

BBHB

Self tanning can feel like a daunting experience and we all crave a flawless, natural glow. Therefore, this month, I wanted to share my top tips on how you can self tan in three easy steps. Whether you want to self tan at home for the first time or prolong your glow, I’ve got some really easy tips to help you tan like a pro.

Firstly you’ll need to exfoliate your whole body, paying particular attention to hands, elbows, knees and feet. Personally I love the Sienna X Polishing Body Scrub for this. Unlike some exfoliators, this gently removes the dead skin cells, without being too abrasive which will help you create the perfect base for your self tan to be applied.

You’ll then need the Sienna X Perfect Self Tan Primer. I recommend applying this to any dry areas, such as hands, elbows, knees and feet. This will avoid your tan being too heavily absorbed and give you a beautiful finish. This is also really great to use around your hairline and on eyebrows, especially if you have fair hair.

When it comes to applying your self tan, the options can be confusing. If you are new to tanning or have fair skin, I would start off with the Sienna X Gradual Self Tan. This doesn’t have a guide colour and looks very similar to a moisturiser. You can also build up your colour to your desired shade as your confidence grows. Alternatively, you can choose from a Lotion, Mousse or Mist.

My personal favourite is the Sienna X Sleep Mousse which is also available in an express version, so you can shower off after just one hour. Take your Sienna X Tanning Mitt and apply your chosen product onto the mitt. I personally would start on my legs and just apply it in circular, sweeping motions. Your product will go quite far, so start of with a little and then you can always add more as you go. Make your way up your body until you just have hands and feet left to do. You shouldn’t need to apply fresh product to your mitt for these areas as you’ll just be able to sweep over the excess product left on your tanning mitt.

I hope this has helped, if you’d like any additional advice, please feel free to leave a comment below, or contact me over on my Facebook page.

Until next time, glow and be you!
