Let’s Talk Make Up, Has it Seen Better Days?

March 1, 2021 By Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty Leave a Comment

Has Your Make Up Seen Better Days?

In recent months, you may have worn less make up than ever before. But with that in mind, could it possibly be time for a spring clean of your make up bag? Prior to Covid19, many of us would apply our make up on daily basis and only replace it when something runs out, dried up or we fancy a change… Cosmetic companies are not obliged to print an expiration date on their products, but did you know that we should in fact, replace our mascara every three months? If not, you are not alone!

I’ve created a really easy guide to help you know when it’s time to show your products the bin and how you can get the best from the products and tools you use…

Finally, here are just a few tips on getting the most out of your products and tools…

When applying your mascara, try not to “pump” your mascara wand in and out of the tube. This creates air inside and will cause the product to break down more quickly and dry it out. My recommendation would be to twist the wand in and out.

To get the best out of your eyeliner pencils and lip liners, ensure you sharpen them regularly. This not only does this improve the application, it helps reduce bacteria too.

I would also recommend cleaning your make-up brushes once a month. If you are unsure what to use, I personally use the MAC Brush Cleanser. You only need a small amount, but it quickly removes product build up and helps take care of your brushes too. If you use a cosmetic sponge to apply your foundation, I would clean these once a week and replace after three months.

Until next time…

Love, Nina x

Make-Up Products You’ll Want In Your Life

December 1, 2017 By Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty 2 Comments

It’s no secret, I am a Make-Up addict! When I walk into MAC or Benefit, I am like a child in a sweetshop. With the party season upon us, I thought I would share with you some of my all time favourite products. These are the products that I use day in, day out and I’m pretty sure that soon you’ll want them in your life too!

Foundation…

I really like Bare Mineral Original Matte Foundation. It contains SPF15 so helps protect your skin, offers fantastic coverage and lasts for ages! If you prefer a liquid foundation, then for me it  has to be Studio Fix Fluid by MAC.

Bronzer…

One of my favourite Bronzers is Hoola by Benefit. This is a matte bronzer and will brighten up even the fairest complexions. It comes with a handy little bush that sits neatly in the box so is great to use on-the-go too.

Highlighter…

Another firm favourite is the Dandelion Powder from Benefit. This illuminating powder adds a real twinkle to your skin. It’s lightweight texture ensures that the product glides on effortlessly. It can be worn alone or enhanced with your favourite blush to add some va va voom to an evening look. I use it on cheeks, down my nose and on the brow bone.

Mascara…

I was struggling for ages to find a decent mascara, until someone introduced me to They’re Real, again by Benefit! (I’m not on commission for them I promise!) I just love trying new make up and when it works, it makes me fall in love. Another little tip, if you use it with their Tinted Primer, it makes your mascara last even longer!

Brows…

My eyebrows are quite fair and I’ve always had to be careful with pencils and powders. I don’t want to look like I’ve had an incident with a Sharpie pen! One of my lovely clients told me about Gimme Brow by Benefit and I was so impressed!  It’s a volumising fibre gel that adds definition and colour for a natural, long lasting finish. Plus the little mascara wand you get with it is super cute!

Lips…

I am yet to find a lipstick that I love more than MAC Pro Longwear. I first tried this for my Wedding as I wanted a lipstick that would last throughout the day and I wasn’t disappointed. In the past I have found some lipsticks to be sticky and uncomfortable to wear, but this one is my absolute favourites, it comes in a variety of shades to suit every skin tone.

If you would like to give any of these products a try for yourself or find out more information, Benefit, Bare Minerals and MAC are all available online or in various department stores such as Debenhams and House of Fraser.

If I can be of any help or answer any questions, feel free to leave me a comment below or pop over to my Facebook page, I would love to hear from you.

Before I go, I just wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you to each and every one of you for your support and custom throughout 2017. It really does mean a lot to me! I hope you all get some well deserved “me-time” over the festive season and that 2018 brings you all you wish for.

Love,

Nina x
