As women, we are often spinning many plates on a daily basis. We juggle work, family life, running a home, planning time with family and friends, as well as ensuring the children’s social calendar is all running like clock work too!
At the moment, I don’t have to worry about the child aspect, however I completely get the rest of it and so I want to ask you a question today; do you ever take time out for yourself? I’m guessing there will be a the odd few of you that are nodding and saying yes but I would imagine the majority of you reading this are saying no, and perhaps even thinking, “time out for me”, what even is that?
Well firstly, if it makes you feel any better, you are not alone! I am just as guilty of this as perhaps you are and have to confess, I find it extremely difficult to take time out away from my business. My job is my passion, and I can honestly say, I truly love what I do, hence why I often find it hard to take a step back and do something just for me.
Is this a good place to be? One could argue, no it’s not! Don’t get me wrong I count myself so lucky to have the amazing clients I do and a job that makes my heart sing, however I also need to be realistic, excessive pressure and stress over time can lead to poor health, mental burnout and exhaustion.
This is why “me time” is so important and why I’ve decided to ditch the guilt! I need to change and actually use my day off as a day off, rather than using that time to work on my business. I’m going to spend more days at the place pictured above. I think us women give ourselves such a hard time on occasions. “Pampering” ourselves is often viewed as a luxury, but I now know, more than ever it’s not, it’s actually a necessity! We are no good to ourselves or anyone around us if we are mentally exhausted!
It doesn’t need to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money, just simple things often work well and are easier to stick to, like taking a warm bath full of bubbles, lighting your favourite candle or reading a good book, whatever it is that will help you unwind your mind and body after a busy day, you owe it to yourself!
So here’s to claiming back some well deserved “me-time” ladies because as the famous beauty company always says, “Because you’re worth it!”
Love, Nina x
