Why Autumn Is the Perfect Time For A Change

Untitled design

Self care is something that many of us take for granted and right now there is no better time to make it a priority. We have all been through so much this year, who would have ever believed we would be in total lockdown, with parents homeschooling their children, shops, bars and all non essential shops being closed… It still often doesn’t feel real does it?

Juggling the challenges that this year has bought to us all has taken its toll. It’s so easy to forget, whilst we are running around at 100mph what self care is, let alone finding ten minutes to actually take some!

Before I begin, I hold my hands up, in the past, my self care routine hasn’t been great. However, this is something that I continually try and get better at. I can often feel guilty about taking time out, however to avoid overwhelm and to maintain our mental health, it really is vital.

Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty

So, my question to you is, and I want you to be really honest with yourself; When was the last time, you did something just for you? Not for your partner, your children or your friend, but just for you!

We often think that self care needs to cost us money, but it really doesn’t. It doesn’t always have to be a spa day or a weekend away. Sometimes it can just be going for a walk and getting back in touch with nature, taking 10 minutes to read or having a bath with your favourite candle and glass of Prosecco.

I personally love to light a Gatcombe Candle, treat my skin to a nourishing Sienna X facial and just allow myself to breathe!

So what will you commit to this month, how can you give yourself the gift of some self care? I’d love you to share with me one thing you’ll do this month in a comment below.

Until next time, go and show yourself some love!

Love,

Why Your Self Care Matters Now More Than Ever

Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty

Self care is something we often forget to make a priority at the best of times, but now more than ever I really think it matters. With the recent Coronavirus situation changing many of our lives, I wanted to share some tips with you on how you can incorporate a little self care into your life.

Start Something New…

Do you have a hobby? If not, maybe now is the perfect time to start. What do you like doing? What helps relax your mind and just escape for a while? Up to now, I’d never really had a hobby, I’m a bit of a workaholic, so planning work things, even on my days off didn’t really feel like work because I enjoyed it. But I came to realise, I needed something more; so at I’ve taken this opportunity to try my hand at learning modern calligraphy.

Create an Evening Routine…

First of all, I light my favourite scented candle, this for me is always from the Gatcombe Candle Co. range. These candles are by far, the best I’ve ever had. The stunning scents are out of this world and really help me to relax. I loved them so much, I became a stockist!

When it comes to my skincare, I’ve been using products that are infused with essential oils such as The Cleansing Balm and The Facial Oil from Sienna X. Not only do these products feel amazing on my skin, they also help to relax my senses too. My final step for my facial is using The Miracle Mask, I  lay on my bed allowing the mask to do its magic, close my eyes and listen to relaxing music while the beautiful scent of Tigerlilly Blossom fills my room.

Calm Your Mind…

If you are like me and struggle to switch off before bed, maybe try an audio book or podcast. There are lots of different categories to choose from, so something for everyone. This just helps to quieten my thoughts and relax, allowing me to get a better nights sleep.

I hope you’ve found this useful, if you have any tips, feel free to share them with me in a comment below. In the meantime, stay safe.

Love,

Why Self Care Is So Important

Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty

Self care is something that us women often neglect. We can end up putting everything, including others before ourselves. Life is busy, with many of us juggling home, work and family life, so this month I wanted to share with you why self care is so important…

Before I begin, I hold my hands up, my self care routine isn’t that great, however this is something that I am going to work really hard on changing. A lot of it is to do with mindset, we can often feel guilty about taking time out, however to avoid overwhelm and to maintain our health, it really is vital.

Last year, we were doing some building work at home so had made the decision to not go away on holiday, but as a result, I took no real time off. I had become a slave to my business without even realising. We then went away for the first two weeks of January and it was only then, I realised how much I needed a break.

This kind of ‘lifestyle’ isn’t sustainable and eventually would of turned into complete burnout. So, my question to you is, and I want you to be really honest with yourself; When was the last time, you did something just for you?

We often think that self care needs to cost us money, but it really doesn’t. It doesn’t always have to be a spa day or a weekend away. Sometimes it can just be going for a walk and getting back in touch with nature or having a bath with your favourite candle and glass of Prosecco.

With Valentine’s Day later this month, I think there is no better time to show yourself some love! Why not take yourself on a date. Go to your favourite cafe, have lunch or treat yourself to a shopping day. Even if you don’t buy anything, your body and mind will thank you for giving it a day of just wandering!

So what will you commit to this month, how can you give yourself the gift of some self care? I’d love you to share with me one thing you’ll do this month in a comment below.

Until next time, show yourself lots of love!
