Self care is something that us women often neglect. We can end up putting everything, including others before ourselves. Life is busy, with many of us juggling home, work and family life, so this month I wanted to share with you why self care is so important…
Before I begin, I hold my hands up, my self care routine isn’t that great, however this is something that I am going to work really hard on changing. A lot of it is to do with mindset, we can often feel guilty about taking time out, however to avoid overwhelm and to maintain our health, it really is vital.
Last year, we were doing some building work at home so had made the decision to not go away on holiday, but as a result, I took no real time off. I had become a slave to my business without even realising. We then went away for the first two weeks of January and it was only then, I realised how much I needed a break.
This kind of ‘lifestyle’ isn’t sustainable and eventually would of turned into complete burnout. So, my question to you is, and I want you to be really honest with yourself; When was the last time, you did something just for you?
We often think that self care needs to cost us money, but it really doesn’t. It doesn’t always have to be a spa day or a weekend away. Sometimes it can just be going for a walk and getting back in touch with nature or having a bath with your favourite candle and glass of Prosecco.
With Valentine’s Day later this month, I think there is no better time to show yourself some love! Why not take yourself on a date. Go to your favourite cafe, have lunch or treat yourself to a shopping day. Even if you don’t buy anything, your body and mind will thank you for giving it a day of just wandering!
So what will you commit to this month, how can you give yourself the gift of some self care? I’d love you to share with me one thing you’ll do this month in a comment below.
Until next time, show yourself lots of love!
Love,
Nina x
