Take A Look Inside My Make Up Bag…

April 1, 2018 By Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty 6 Comments

Make-up has always been a real passion of mine, in fact I think I’m a complete make-up addict! But for me, make-up isn’t about looking like someone you’re not, it’s about enhancing the person you are.

So with that in mind, I thought I would share exactly what’s in my make-up bag right now and the products I use each and every day.

Foundation…

At the moment I’m using Boots No7 Essenetially Natural in Cool Ivory. This is the first time I’ve used it and I’m really impressed with it. It gives a light to medium coverage and feels really lightweight on the skin. I’ve used many other foundations in the past which have sometimes felt quite cakey, but this one is really nice and definitely good for both day and evening looks.

Loose Powder….

Again this is Boots No7 and mine is in shade “Perfect Light”. In the past I’ve used pressed powders but I have to say, I really like this one. It’s nice and lightweight and is also hypo-allogenic so great for skin that can be a little sensitive.

Bronzer/ Highlighter…

I think I may have mentioned this before, but I really love Hoola and Dandelion by Benefit. Hoola is the Bronzer and Dandelion is the Highlighter. Both of these products work beautifully together. The bronzer has a matte finish, so by using Dandelion just on the cheekbones, gives you real definition. Both of these work really well for creating a dewy make-up look.

Lash Primer / Mascara…

It’s only been within the last year or so that I’ve started to use a lash primer but I really like it. Not only does it work well for those days where you want to wear minimal make-up but it also makes your Mascara last longer too. I highly recommend both the Lash Primer from Benefit and Boots No7, however for me, I’ve not found a Mascara I like more than “They’re Real” from Benefit.

Brows…

It’s taken me ages to find the right Brow product after Gimme Brow by Benefit, my old favourite was recalled. My  brows are quite fair and so I like them to look defined, but not so defined that I look like I’ve been attacked by a Sharpie Pen. So if you are looking for the perfect product, let me introduce you to Goof Proof Brow Pencil by Benefit. I have it in shade 2 (I think there are six shades in total with 6 being the darkest). It’s absolutely amazing and if you treat yourself to one product, I would highly recommend this one!

Lips…

If I’m choosing to wear a colour, I wouldn’t leave home without my Pro Longwear by MAC. I have it in shade “Overtime” but there are many shades to choose from in the range. The one thing I like the most is, it doesn’t feel sticky or tacky. Really nice to wear and lasts really well too!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this month’s blog and taking a look inside my make up bag. Please note I am not an affiliate for any of the brands I’ve mentioned, I just love to use products that work! If you have any favourites of your own, then why not drop me a comment below or head over to my Facebook page, I would love to hear from you.

Love,

Nina x

All You Need To Know About Waxing…

September 1, 2017 By Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty 2 Comments

Waxing is one of the most popular and cost effective ways to remove unwanted hair. This dates back all the way to Egyptian and Roman times. Many customs considered the removal of hair to be more hygienic and a necessity for many centuries. Both men and women would depilate their entire body hair and often adhered to the expectation that hair should be removed for at least 40 days, all these years later, we still recommend Waxing every 4-5 weeks.

What are the benefits of Waxing?

Unlike shaving, Waxing actually removes the hair directly from the root. This means over a period of time and with repeated treatments, hair often grows back finer and in some cases more sparse.

Waxing also acts as an exfoliator, as it removes the top layer of dead skin cells.

It’s quick and affordable. Unlike some of the other methods such as, electrolysis and laser. Most Waxing treatments can be carried out within 20-30 minutes depending on the individual.

There are also no harsh chemicals or ingredients that could harm the skin.

What’s the difference between Warm Wax and Hot Wax?

These are often referred to as strip wax and peelable wax. Warm wax is applied in a thin layer using a wooden spatula and then removed with either a paper or fabric strip. Hot wax is also applied using a disposable spatula, however because it hardens as it cools on the skin, it is removed without a strip.

Warm wax is often used for larger areas such as legs, arms or chest and backs of male clients where as Hot wax is used for smaller areas such as underarms, facial areas or intimate waxing.

When looking for a Waxing brand, I wanted to offer my clients the very best and Sienna X never fail to disappoint. They use the finest natural ingredients to create the most stunning waxes. They also use Defensil® Plus within their pre and post care products. This is a combination of ingredients that help to protect, soothe and regenerate the skin.

Pre Treatment Advice…

  • Allow at least three weeks of hair growth for best results.
  • If you are new to waxing, have skin sensitivities or any allergies, I would recommend a patch test 24-48 hours before a treatment.
  • Gently exfoliate the area the day before your treatment, this will help avoid ingrown hairs and will help to give you a smoother finished result.
  • Avoid using lotions or cosmetics on the treatment area on the day of your appointment.

Post Treatment Advice…

  • All aftercare advice should be followed for 24-48 hours after your treatment.
  • Avoid hot baths or showers
  • Do not expose the area to UV light, sunbathing, heat or electrical equipment.
  • Avoid swimming, spa baths or saunas
  • Avoid touching the area with fingers.

If you would like to find out any additional information about how a Sienna X Wax can make your treatment a little bit more ‘oooOOOooo’ than ‘ouch’, you can get in touch with me via my Facebook page.

Love, Nina x

How To Glow With Confidence On Your Wedding Day

June 1, 2017 By Be Beautiful Hair & Beauty Leave a Comment

Bridal Tanning Tips

I think every Bride deserves to look and feel beautiful on one of the most special days of her life and I genuinely believe that a subtle glow really does complete a bridal look.

For me, the ultimate bridal tan should be flawless, timeless and beautifully enhance their natural skin tone. It’s such a privilege to create a tan like this and whenever I meet a bride I like to gain as much information as possible, in order for me to create the perfect tan for them. With that in mind, here are my top bridal tanning tips for all of you beautiful Brides-to-be…

Your First Tanning Appointment…

On your first tanning appointment, it’s all about the consultation. I love to hear all about your dress, how much of your skin will be on show and your colour scheme. My most popular tan for brides is the Sienna X 6% Touché De Soleil. It gives a gorgeous light, natural glow and works beautifully on pale skin tones.

I do sometimes opt for a slightly darker shade, but this is only usually if the natural skin tone is darker or I’m choosing to accentuate certain areas such as cheekbones or the décolletage.

After this initial appointment, I advise my brides to take a daily selfie in natural daylight to see which day they prefer the colour on. Most of my brides often prefer day two, this then ensures that when it comes to tanning them for the actual wedding day, they feel at their best… Confidence is key.

Your Second Tanning Appointment…

This is where I focus more on the feedback from your initial tanning appointment . Many brides often like to book their Make-Up trials for after this date, this then gives them a really clear idea of how they will look on their big day. A spray tan is the perfect primer for your Make-up to be applied to, and works particularly well for brides who wear minimal make up day-to-day.

Your Final Tanning Appointment…

Your final appointment will take place a day or two before your wedding day. At this point, all of your arrangements will be done, allowing you to enjoy your treatment with a glass of Prosecco.

We will also discuss your honeymoon plans, Brides who are going away straight after their wedding often like to take a Gradual Self Tan to prolong the life of their tan, others who are going away at a later date like to use Radiance Body Balm in order to keep their skin nourished and get the most from their colour.

Which ever shade you choose, I hope you have the most amazing wedding day and create memories you will treasure for years to come.

Love,

Nina x
